ABOUT LEONTIEN

Leontien has been painting for over ten years, mainly landscapes and still lifes. Her love for oil painting arose during a painting course in Rome, where she lived for a few years.

Light is an important subject in Leontien's work. Light in the landscape, in interiors and in still lifes. In Copenhagen she discovered the work of the Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi. The way he caught light on the canvas inspired her. Nature, the old masters and contemporary art are also important sources of inspiration for Leontien's work.

Leontien's paintings are characterized by peace and tranquility. She works with a limited palette of mainly grayed colors and is continuously looking for interesting compositions and contrasts in her work.

Leontien is currently following the five-year painting course at the Arendonk Academy to further develop her style and craftsmanship.
